David Flynn


David has more than 15 years of experience working with youth, nonprofits and philanthropic organizations to enhance the impact of sport in communities. He has had roles ranging from a coach and program director to a strategist and field-builder. Currently, in addition to serving as We Coach’s Managing Director, David is the chairperson of Sport for Good Chicago, a collective of youth sports providers throughout the city.

Before launching We Coach in 2017, David served as the Director of Programs and Operations at Laureus Sport for Good Foundation USA, where he spent five years developing a national place-based approach to strengthen the field of sport for development. In his role, he navigated partnerships with diverse stakeholders, expanded core programming into four new cities, and oversaw budgetary growth from $1.5M to $5.5M.

David is also the Founder of From the Roots, a social enterprise that inspires social consciousness, empowers young leaders, and builds capacity for community-driven solutions. He loves playing basketball, listening to music, traveling, and making candles. David lives in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood with his partner Alexandra. He graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Community Relations.
